3 MAY 2014 ~ NZ ARTIST OF THE DAY:

DEAD C

PATIENCE

"Their early work was rooted in feedback-drenched indie rock but they soon moved from this into more experimental work, in which every noise imaginable that could be made with each instrument was explored and brought to bear around the theme at hand - which often meant that the tracks would rise into an ethereal range of screeches howls and thunderous pounding. The music was hard to latch on to, but nonetheless stirring and emotional in its intensity."
Gareth Shute, p.139 NZ ROCK 1987 - 2007

The Dead C are without a doubt one of Dunedin's most iconic bands - often described as 'noise-rock' or 'free-rock'.
Formed in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1987, within a do-it-yourself and punk-rock music culture that was to become known as the 'Dunedin Sound'.
Dead C gained even greater popularity within international subculture circles... Sonic Youth regularly arranged for them to play support for their New Zealand shows!
By the year 2000 Dead C had released 14 albums!!!
