RELICS CREW PICKS ~ MARCH 2024

    Metal / Noise

THE BODY & DIS FIG
Orchards of A Futile Heaven

"A collaboration between the alt-metal duo and Berlin-based shapeshifter Felicia Chen creates a dark but nourishing LP of hellish depth." Guardian Review

The title says it all! We've had this album on high rotation over the last couple weeks, get in there & check it out!

 Post-punk

IDLES
Tangk

Definitely a diversion from past Idles albums - musicality & lyrics are progressive and at least 3 of us named this as our pick for this month!! Recent reviews vary a lot in their like/dislike of this album... as usual we say you are the best judge of what you might like! We love it, give it a go...

    Jazz

TOMORROW COMES THE HARVEST
Evolution

"A wonder to behold, a live performance that captures the perfect synergy between electronic and acoustic instruments." Backseat Mafia Review

Dave's jazz pick of the month - keyboards, tabla and drums, spiritual jazz trio - good vibes.

    Sludge Metal

SLOWER
Slower

Freya's pick of the month - Slower reimagines classic Slayer songs at sludge metal pace - "This album has definitely made me appreciate Slayer more and I really enjoy the complexity of their riffs. Hearing Slayer with a doom-metal female voice -  singer from KYLESA - is super refreshing!"

     Country Rock

NEIL YOUNG
Harvest Moon

Sometimes in revisiting timeless albums of old, we find new appreciation for moments we previously missed, or revitalised passion for what we loved before. Whatever the case, the joy of a remaster/reissue is an excuse to relive and refresh our memories, or a chance to experience an album you haven't yet gotten to. This album is definitely an oldie but a goodie, one that connects people across generations. This month Andrew is loving every minute of it!

2012 Classic Rock Review

     Reggae

BOB MARLEY
Exodus

Tim has one of the largest Reggae & World collections of everyone we know. This month he decided to get to the new Bob Marley: One Love movie. His words - "Such a ballsy move, a movie concentrating on pretty much just 2 years of Bob Marley's life. I wasn't sure what this movie would hold for me, but you know they had Lee Scratch Perry, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer but with little reference to them - so a lot of stuff in there for the fan aside from the story they were telling." Like the movie, Exodus is about revolution and love and pain. And as far as crew picks go, this is a fave across all of our Relics crew, and if you're going to check the movie out, we highly recommend connecting/reconnecting with this album!

    Alt / Indie / Folk

FIRST AID KIT
Palomino

In Relics HiFi we are constantly on the hunt for albums that sound spectacular on our systems - especially those recorded impeccably. We also hunt down albums from all genres, so that we have a bunch of go-tos to suit the musical tastes of our customers. This First Aid Kit album is one that Alan has been playing in-store this month. Palomino is upbeat and rockin' with tons of lush harmonies and those ethereal moments they are so well known for.
