Imagine an amplifier that is truly the best of all worlds. Powerful transformers and tubes encased in glass and metal, floating on spikes. A chassis with distinctive layers of precisely cut natural wood, the imperfections of the timber decorating the smoothly sanded surface. Crowned with an array of glinting glass tubes, and three knobs - this is the Nixie NX-2.

The NX-2 is a Japanese inspired KT88 Ultra-Linear 8 Watt Single Ended, Class A Stereo Power Amplifier.

Topology and Layout

The topology of the NX-2 has been designed for a symmetrical layout keeping the on-board power supply in the centre of the chassis with the amplifying channels spaced on either side. The NX-2 employs both Point to Point and PCB wiring techniques: High performance, immersion gold plated, 2oz weighted copper traces on custom in-house designed, double sided black mask PCB's. These enable consistent accurate power to the high impedance audio signal throughout the three sensitive tube sockets.

Tube Housing and Lineup

Our standard Tube Line up Consists of a 12AU7 and a 12BH7A both dual triode's operating both sections in Parrallel. KT88 (Kinkless Tetrode) Power Tubes operating in Ultra-Linear mode , and an indirectly heated, High Current GZ34 Full Wave Rectifier. These are are firmly bolted to the 4mm thick aluminium chassis to relieve any pressure on the PCB's when tubes are inserted & removed from the Gold Plated (OFC) Teflon CMC tube sockets.

The Nixie is hand built and can be customised to your preference. The on Board Edge Wise ammeters, and user friendly Bias adjustment make Tube Rolling a breeze. Contact us and we can make your analog dreams a reality!

Refined vintage sound, integrated into your home

Integration of the NX-2 into your Home Automation system or other compatible equipment is possible with the Auto mode which has been incorporated into the 3 position power switch, enabling a standard 12v dc external trigger to automatically switch the Nixie Power amplifier On and Off when in this mode.

Only Japanese Kiwame and Takman's truly supreme Carbon Film Resistors-developed specifically for audio are used throughout the amplifier. The Power supply on-board the NX-2 consists of superb Tokyo manufactured Hashimoto power transformer and Potted Inductor Choke. Tube Rectification and Highly regarded Fischer & Tausche Filter Capacitors.

The NX-2 boasts the use of High Resolution Auricap XO metalized polypropylene Capacitors* for coupling the three amplification stages to the 20Watt Ultra-Linear Potted Hashimoto Output transformers before impedance matching down to 8ohms and terminating at the Gold Plated CMC Binding Posts at the Rear Panel.
