Operating between 1972-1973 in Tokyo's Kichijoji neighbourhood, OZ was a scruffy, DIY space that became the nerve centre for the city's burgeoning underground and counterculture set. Hadaka No Rallizes, aka Les Rallizes Denudes, the psychedelic noisemakers led by the enigmatic Takashi Mizutani, was one of five OZ regulars that appeared on OZ DAYS LIVE, a 2LP set released in 1974 to commemorate the end of the short-lived but highly influential venue.
The OZ Tapes set reveals the Rallizes at some of their most unhinged and experimental, mixed with moments of delicate tenderness - the two sides of Mizutani that would come to define his band's legacy.
