12 MAY 2014 ~ NZ ARTIST OF THE DAY

MOUNTAINEATER

MOUNTAINEATER

"Moutaineater’s debut album is a veritable sonic gourmet of psychedelic noise rock of the calibre you'd expect from well-versed practitioners of the form. After years of touring, the Dunedin band present a truly formidable onslaught onstage. However, the album format also suits them well. The listener has the time and space to appreciate the more subtle details in the music which might be missed out on live due to the voluminous power they project."
Michael Harvey, undertheradar.co.nz

MOUNTAINEATER are without a doubt one of my most favourite local Dunedin bands... (well at least they used to be Dunedin local.. these days geographical location separates members of the band a little). The vocal intensity of Tristan Dingemans is equaled in drive and fervour by Chris Livingston (drums) and Anaru Ngata (bass and guitar), and the result is a combination of in-your-face powerful music that is brooding and heavy yet also sonically atmospheric. Live performances from these guys will blow you away!

You may know of Tristan Dingemans as the former lead vocalist of Flying Nun band - HIGH DEPENDENCY UNIT (HDU)... and if you don't - you probably also want to check them out. More recently Tristan can also be heard around town flying solo as KAHU...

Each act has a flavour of it's own, but in a nutshell - great music!

Here is the music video 'Lord of Sumo' uploaded by MOUNTAINEATER to youtube...
