BEASTWARS
BLOOD BECOMES FIRE
"There's no mucking around, Beastwars put their foot on your throat and let you have it right from the start on raging chugger, Dune. So it's more of the same from the fearsome Wellington four-piece then following their debut album from 2011? Well, yes, but this time round the intensity has been cranked up even more, and the sound they make is cleaner and clearer, while still retaining that rugged rawness and trance-inducing heaviness."
Scott Kara, NZ Herald album review for Blood Becomes Fire
LPs by Wellington band BEASTWARS are amongst the most coveted NZ records we stock, and their rarity probably has a lot to do with that. Those that have BEASTWARS records are true fans and they hang on to their records for dear life.. while everyone else lies in wait! Well the next best thing to not having a copy yourself is to take every opportunity to hear them live!! As I write this BEASTWARS are playing to a sold out crowd in Melbourne!! Lucky peoples!
BEASTWARS music is high energy, and will pulverise your mind with some grinding fuzz and heavy riffin' power... These four guys will blast you right out of any funk!
Check them... dig this video too.. rockin' artwork!

LITTLE BUSHMAN
PENDULUM
"It's been a long time since I've been affected by an album in this way. Pendulum has worked a path through my blood stream, setting up outposts in far reaching arteries and organs and seems now ready to slowly open me up as it gently kneads the brain, sending it's signals to the hand that holds this pen that writes these words. What witchery is this?!"
Some of my all time favourite live gigs in New Zealand have been both Little Bushman and Trinity Roots gigs. The main reason being that they set a vibe in a room... and then they pick everyone up and transport them to a whole different level. These performances hold more than the joy of individual songs...they are a collective experience... and one that is always memorable!
"We collectively try to create a journey without sounding contrived & have made a conscious decision to use influences from the experimental, psychedelic Rock era of the 60’s & 70’s: Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix, The Who." Little Bushman
Each Little Bushman album is great... and their album with John Psathas and The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is simply divine - one of the best NZ orchestral-comtemporary albums out there!!
For the rest of us... check out their music when they're next in your town... here's a start...
