RECORD STORE DAY is quite simply - a day of celebration! The third Saturday of April, independently owned record stores from all over the world celebrate the culture of vinyl, sharing music and the love of music. After all, all those that start independent record stores are in it because they love it.
If you ask Dave, he has spent most of his life thinking everyday is record store day... and it took him a while to come round to the idea of celebrating record store culture on a specific day - but as we nearly lost independent record stores for a time there, we both know - and maybe you agree - that record store culture is actually something worth celebrating!
Last year we had such a great time with all our awesome customers, and the release of Dunedin's Independent Records EP... (if you haven't seen the footage you can check it out here) ... and we decided that we would definitely be celebrating again this year!!
On RSD, many artists - international and local - choose to release albums, items of special interest and re-release albums out of print. Some people aren't so in to this. Quite frankly, we just look forward to more good music!! This year the list is quite something.
Tons of vinyl goodies have been ordered in - most are pretty limited editions!
However, we won't know exactly what we have been lucky enough to get until the day before!
RSD releases will be available ONLY IN STORE - so come in and have some fun! - At the close of business on Sat 18 April, we will list items still in stock on our website.
To be fair to everyone - first in first served - sorry no holds ...
More info will be posted here as it comes to hand ...
Or on our RELICS MUSIC DUNEDIN facebook page
Doors will open at 9am sharp.
Choice one.
