Mark Kendrick is doing some NZ record store profiles for RIP IT UP Magazine online.
We (Dave & Irene) answered a few questions about music and our store...
Here's a link to the profile he posted for Rip It Up about RELICS.
Cheers Mark!

RECORD STORE DAY was created as a day to celebrate the culture of independent record stores, but without all you people that are so passionate about music, record stores would cease to exist... so really Record Store Day is about all of you!
As a little give back... to say a BIG THANK YOU
ALL VINYL, CDs and DVDs are discounted 15% IN STORE on RSD
and YES that includes ALL RSD special releases that have made it in !
We have ordered over 90 different releases, but when it comes down to it, a lot of stars have to align for everything to arrive in to the store on time! AND for us to receive the items we have requested - these items are coveted all over the world - so everything comes down to our luck of the draw!
In Dunedin, New Zealand we are one of the first independent stores in the world to celebrate Record Store Day, but some of our vinyl orders also have to travel a super long way. This means we hope like hell that everything makes it to the store on time...
So...
The GOOD NEWS is that we do have our NEW ZEALAND Record Store Day releases and a few others!
The NOT SO GOOD NEWS is that due to a major shipping catastrophe, the majority of our RSD releases have not made it to NZ in time for Record Store Day - this is not just a Dunedin problem, but a nationwide one - no record stores in NZ will have their US goods on time :(
However we do know what we are receiving, so we will be taking orders tomorrow for those items...
Super sorry, we know heaps of you were excited about the possiblity of taking home international releases - but out of our hands - of course we're celebrating anyway... and as usual definitely celebrating our NZ MUSIC!
Our ANNUAL SALE is so ON ~ THANK YOU for being such loyal music lovers !!

RECORD STORE DAY is quite simply - a day of celebration! The third Saturday of April, independently owned record stores from all over the world celebrate the culture of vinyl, sharing music and the love of music. After all, all those that start independent record stores are in it because they love it.
If you ask Dave, he has spent most of his life thinking everyday is record store day... and it took him a while to come round to the idea of celebrating record store culture on a specific day - but as we nearly lost independent record stores for a time there, we both know - and maybe you agree - that record store culture is actually something worth celebrating!
Last year we had such a great time with all our awesome customers, and the release of Dunedin's Independent Records EP... (if you haven't seen the footage you can check it out here) ... and we decided that we would definitely be celebrating again this year!!
On RSD, many artists - international and local - choose to release albums, items of special interest and re-release albums out of print. Some people aren't so in to this. Quite frankly, we just look forward to more good music!! This year the list is quite something.
Tons of vinyl goodies have been ordered in - most are pretty limited editions!
However, we won't know exactly what we have been lucky enough to get until the day before!
RSD releases will be available ONLY IN STORE - so come in and have some fun! - At the close of business on Sat 18 April, we will list items still in stock on our website.
To be fair to everyone - first in first served - sorry no holds ...
More info will be posted here as it comes to hand ...
Or on our RELICS MUSIC DUNEDIN facebook page
Doors will open at 9am sharp.
Choice one.
